How are the images printed

posted 2006 Oct by Alison Grippo

All images are printed by as master printer and a pro lab. Depending on the image it will either be printed on Fuji Matte paper or Kodak Matte Lustre paper. I proof all images before they are sent to ensure that the quality is true, and the image is exactly as it appears on the monitor. All the printers I work with have calibrate their monitors daily and have specific color profiles I’ve worked with in the past.

The archival quality of the image is 80+ years.

Why are some of the sizes different

posted 2006 Oct by Alison Grippo

Images were taken with one of two cameras – a Canon 20D or a Canon 5D. The 20D produces beautiful images but the frame size is smaller than a traditional 35mm film slide. Those imaages have a different size and aspect ratio (3×2). I will also only allow those images to blow up to a certain size because larger sizes than what’s offer quality can suffer and the image will not be as sharp.

Images taken with the 5D are tradition 35mm sizes and can be blown up to more traditiional sizes (20×24) without having any effect on the image.
